My favorite stroller accessories

There is no doubt the stroller is one of the biggest purchases we make.  Even if you choose the perfect stroller there are some accessories that can make your life easier and more convenient.  I have really come to appreciate these stroller accessories now that my stroller is my car in NYC.  However, knowing and using these accessories makes me wonder why I never had them before – no matter your lifestyle these are some great add on’s to the perfect stroller.

1 – Skip Hop Grab & Go Stroller Organizer.  I love this handy little thing.  It is made of a soft neoprene and is has three separate compartments.  The two ends are great for cup holders (or wipe holders, see #2) and the center console is great for phones, keys, pacifiers, lip gloss, small toys, etc.  There is a handy little zip off pouch that I keep emergency cash in and my credit card if I am not bringing my entire wallet.  When I am at the park I can just zip it right off and keep my valuables with me.  I recently spilled some of my Pumpkin Spice Latte (gasp) on the organizer and it easily wiped clean!

2 – Sani-Hands KIDS Hand Sanitizer Wipes Cupholder.  I love these wipes and especially this “cup sized” container of antibacterial wipes.  We use them after every park outing, before dining out meals, after our gym/music/preschool classes and any other time we need to clean dirty hands.  You will be shocked how little hands appear to not be dirty until you wipe them off! With cold and flu season upon these are an absolute must. ps, these also work great for wiping off a high chair/table at restaurants.  And yes, I realize I am germaphobe. 

3 – Skip Hop Memory Foam Stroller Liner – I have to admit, I thought these memory foam stroller liners were sort of silly before I used one two. In reality, they’re awesome and I LOVE them. We all know how messy a stroller seat can get – from sunscreen to snacks to sand and everything in between the stroller liner catches it all. Although it is machine washable I have been able to just wipe them or “shake” them clean in the 3+ months I have been using them.  These definitely top my baby gear “favorites” list right now.

5 – Rain Canopy.  These days we are strolling around in the Baby Jogger City Select so we have this particular weather shield stowed in our spacious basket.  These come in so handy!  Like many others, this canopy attaches directly to the stroller so stays in place through wind, creating a cozy, dry place for the girls to get from point A to point B. And while my stroller’s canopy is spacious it isn’t enough to shield from rain (and eventually snow).  They fold up super compactly so I keep them in my stroller at all times.  Some strollers come with these but for most it is an additional purchase.

4 – Owl Walk-Along Stroller Handle.  There are many times when Eloise doesn’t need to ride in the stroller and for those times, I love this friendly owl handle and so does she.  She actually asks to “hold owl’s hand” instead of ride.  It is easy to take on and off and I always move it to the inside of the street side if she is going to be using it.  Don’t get me wrong, I still watch her like a hawk.  I always tell her the rules for holding owls hand: you must hold his hand at all times, hold mama’s hand when we cross streets and if you can’t follow those directions it is back in the stroller.  She has actually always followed the rule!  For times I know she needs to stay in the stroller I will just pop him off and put him in the basket.

6 – Skip Hop Pronto.  I have mentioned the Pronto countless times and I still love it.  These days it stays clipped to my stroller and it goes everywhere with me.  In my mind it is the most handy way to effectively store your diaper changing supplies and ensure they are all right where you need them to be (just don’t forget to restock!).  You have pockets for diapers, wipes, diaper cream all packaged in a handy changing pad.  There are even extra pockets for keys, phone and other mom accessories (this makes a GREAT baby shower or new mom gift).

Not so much on the accessory front you will also always find: sunscreen, extra formula, a bottle of water, aden + anais burpy bib and various toys on our stroller – what is on your ride?
